Why should you read Mediations?
This was a life changing book. It’s written by the last “good” ruler of Rome. Loosely written as a personal journal, but you don’t see Dear Diary woven into the pages. It’s more a list of things Marcus heard or learned through his day that he would constantly reread. I often found myself reading a page or two and just thinking about it all day. After completion of this book, I started my own "mediations” to reread as I go through life. This book inspired me to read and write almost daily. There is just so much insight to a king’s life and thought process. Lastly, most notable was the sections as a plague was wiping out large sections of Rome. It hits close to home to understand the hardship as even members of his own family die and Marcus still rules with courage, patience, justice, and wisdom. This stands a book I wish to study yearly and adjust to teachings as I continue to learn and experience life.
