Ingredients:
8oz Protein forward elbow noodles (Banza and Barilla Protein Plus)
8oz Ground Turkey 99/1 or Ground Beef 96/4
Pinch or two of crispy fried onions (from a can or Funyuns or pork rinds)
Breadcrumbs (amount depends on size of skillet)
Can also use low calorie bread toasted and diced fine.
1 White Onion cooked in caramelized onions.
Slice onion thin, toss in hot pan, add salt and sugar, then cook until caramelized.
Animal Spread
½ cup Greek Yogurt
½ cup low-fat Mayo
½ cup low to no sugar added Ketchup
Couple pickles minced (or relish)
½ tsp Paprika
¼ tsp Onion Powder
½ tsp Garlic Powder. (shh you can use minced garlic too)
Chop, whisk it together and set to the side.
Cheese Sauce
Cooking spray or 1 tbsp olive oil
2 ½ tbsp flour or mixed Bread Flour and Unflavored Casein or Vital Wheat Gluten
16 oz Unsweetened, unflavored Almond Milk (or low-fat milk)
12 slices of reduced fat American cheese (save one or 2 for the end)
4 oz Shredded Cheddar cheese (if you have cheddar cheese powder add a little)
½ cup Low fat Thousand Island
Heat olive oil in a small saucepot over medium heat. Add flour and stir. Cook for about two minutes until a light blonde color is reached. Add in almond milk, stir, and cook for about two minutes until sauce has visibly thickened. Add American cheese and cheddar and stir until melted. Take off the heat then add in Thousand Island.
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 500 degrees F.
Cook up the meat, start the caramelized onion process, and boil pasta to instructions.
Layer the pasta and meat and Animal Cheese Sauce in a cast iron skillet. Top with any crispy onions and bake it for about 10-15 minutes
Pull from oven and top with extra cheese, caramelized onions and Animal Spread
