Pizza Burger

Calories 425/Protein 49g/Carbs 35g/Fat 10g per serving

Ingredients:

  • 4oz lean ground turkey or 96/4 lean ground beef

  • 2 tbsp low-fat mozzarella cheese, shredded

  • 5-10 turkey pepperoni, chopped

  • 1 tsp. pizza seasoning (a blend of oregano, basil, thyme, garlic powder, and onion powder)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 2 tbsp. pizza sauce

  • 1-2 oz. slices of additional low-fat mozzarella cheese, shredded (for topping)

  • 1 whole wheat hamburger bun with garlic seasoning (lower the calorie the better)

  • Optional toppings: sliced tomatoes, spinach, or any other pizza toppings you prefer

  1. Instructions:

    1. In a mixing bowl, combine the lean ground turkey or beef, 2 tablespoons shredded low-fat mozzarella cheese, chopped turkey pepperoni, pizza seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well to evenly distribute the ingredients.

    2. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into burger patties.

    3. Preheat a non-stick skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook the burger patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

    4. During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with a slice of low-fat mozzarella cheese and let it melt.

    5. Toast the whole wheat hamburger buns with garlic seasoning until they are lightly browned and crispy.

    6. Assemble the pizza burgers by spreading 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Place a cooked burger patty on top of the sauce.

    7. Add any optional toppings you prefer, such as sliced tomatoes or spinach.

    8. Place the top half of the bun on the toppings to complete the burger.

    9. Serve the pizza burgers with a side salad or your favorite low-calorie side dish.
